We're Hiring: Marketing & Content Creator

Who are we?

Hey, we're ORCA. An independent strategic brand studio based in Bristol, UK. We help ambitious, service-led brands clarify their positioning, define their edge, and bring it to life through distinctive identity and activation.

We combine audacious creativity with strategic rigour. Our clients are ambitious brands determined to lead their market, not just compete in it. We're B Corp certified, proudly independent, and genuinely invested in the impact our work has in the world.

Culture comes first at ORCA. It's what drives great work, keeps our people energised, and builds long-standing client relationships. We support collaboration and self-expression, encouraging the team to challenge themselves, experiment, and grow. The result is a focused, ambitious and supportive studio environment, something we think shows through in everything we deliver.

We're now looking for a Content Creator to join us — someone whose craft is content, but who thinks like a marketer and a strategist while making it. Someone who can bring real creative energy to both client accounts and our own brand, build audiences from scratch, and consistently produce content that earns attention rather than interrupts it.

We're open to this role being full-time or part-time (on a 6-month fixed-term contract), or freelance. Tell us what works for you and we'll talk through it.

Who are you?

You're a natural storyteller who understands that great content starts with an idea, not a template. You're strategic, ambitious and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to creating great work.

You've got 2 to 4 years of experience in a creative, brand or marketing environment. You've managed social channels end-to-end, written copy for the real world, and know what it takes to build an audience over time.

You're a strong writer. Not just for captions, for blogs, email campaigns, creative briefs and strategic decks. You can adapt your voice to suit different brands without losing what makes each one distinctive.

You're comfortable behind a camera. You can plan and capture content on location, edit it to a standard that looks intentional, and turn raw footage into something worth watching.

You understand the difference between content that performs and content that resonates, and you know how to read the data to form ideas without letting it limit your creativity. Content is your craft, but marketing strategy is the lens you create through — you think about positioning, audience and objectives before you think about format.

You're organised and self-directed. You can manage multiple clients and deadlines without losing quality, and you're comfortable taking ownership of a content calendar from planning through to scheduling.

You're a people person who loves meeting clients and working within a tight-knit team. You know how to get the best out of people on shoots and strategy sessions.

You have a genuine interest in brand, culture and design. You don't need to be a designer, but you care about aesthetics. You notice when something looks off, you say something.

You're AI literate. You know how to use the tools available to work smarter, create faster, and brief better. You're curious about how the creative landscape is shifting and you're not waiting for someone to hand you a playbook.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Plan, create and schedule social content across multiple platforms for both clients and ORCA itself.
  • Shoot and edit photo and video content on location at client sites (travelling independently when required).
  • Ideate seasonal and campaign-led content to keep each brand feeling current and purposeful.
  • Write compelling, on-brand copy across formats: social, email, blogs, articles and campaign assets.
  • Maintain a consistent, distinctive voice across all ORCA communications.

  • Collaborate with freelance copywritiers on more in-depth copy projects.
  • Maintain a consistent, distinctive voice across all ORCA communications.

Marketing & Strategy

  • Develop content plans that balance brand building with performance goals, grounded in each client's wider marketing strategy.
  • Manage and grow social communities through active, thoughtful engagement.
  • Carry out regular social audits, competitor analysis and audience research.
  • Analyse data trends and campaign performance to inform future content and strategy.
  • Stay close to consumer behaviour, cultural trends and platform developments, and bring that thinking into the studio.

Account & Community Management

  • Lead retained accounts day-to-day, attending regular client meetings and reporting on performance.
  • Share insights with the wider team to inspire new ideas and identify opportunities.
  • Act as a reliable, proactive point of contact for clients on content and marketing.

Paid Media & Digital Marketing

  • Contribute to paid social campaigns, including performance reporting.
  • Support SEO, PPC and other digital advertising activity where relevant.
  • Help maintain the digital marketing schedule and ensure deadlines are met.

PR, Influencer & Awards

  • Spot and pursue PR opportunities for ORCA and relevant retained accounts.
  • Identify and manage influencer opportunities, from outreach through to ongoing collaboration.
  • Identify award opportunities and support entries for ORCA and clients where scope allows.

Creative Collaboration

  • Brief in-house designers to request assets for campaigns, ensuring clear, considered briefs.
  • Collaborate with the design team to support the successful delivery of creative projects.
  • Attend client meetings and presentations, contributing actively and capturing key actions.

Note: the balance of responsibilities above will flex depending on whether the role is full-time, part-time or freelance — we'll shape scope around availability and working pattern.

Package

(Full-time and Part-time employed roles)

  • Time off that actually feels like time off. 21 days holiday (pro-rated for part-time), plus bank holidays, your birthday off, and the Christmas shutdown period.
  • Work your way. A mix of in-studio energy and remote flexibility.
  • Flexitime. Because life doesn't always stick to 9 to 5.
  • Team lunches. Every month. Eat, share, bond.
  • Training and inspiration budget. We invest in your growth.
  • Quarterly ORCA Hero Award. With a bonus, because heroes deserve one.
  • Summer perks. A team trip and summer hours for those sunny afternoons.
  • Enhanced parental leave and sick pay. Because we've got your back.
  • Referral bonus scheme. Help us find great people or win work, and get rewarded.
  • Early Friday finishes. Because weekends should start early.
  • Annual pro bono projects and volunteer days. Because we want to give back.

For 6-month fixed-term and freelance arrangements, we'll discuss the package and terms that make sense for your situation directly.

Progression

There's real potential for the right person to grow with us. As ORCA scales, we hope to build out a proper marketing function, which means scope to develop into a senior marketing or brand comms role over time. For freelance or fixed-term applicants, there's the possibility of this evolving into an ongoing or permanent arrangement depending on fit and need.
